AJ Fernandez San Lotano Requiem Habano
The San Lotano Requiem Habano is one of three blends that make up the Requiem subset of the San Lotano brand from A.J. Fernández. The cigar was first introduced in 2010—then known as San Lotano Habano—paying homage to the Fernández family's original brand, which was rolled in San Luis, Cuba prior to the Cuban Revolution.
Today, San Lotano cigars are rolled at A.J.'s factory of the same name, which is his diminutive facility located in the lesser-known Nicaraguan city of Ocotal. But while the cigar now has a new name, look, and factory, the most important aspects live on: (a) making use of A.J. Fernández tobacco and (b) being overseen by the man himself. These two attributes alone are reason enough to make the AJF San Lotano Requiem Habano cigar a part of most cigar hobbyists regular rotation, and we haven't even gotten to the recipe yet!
Indeed, the San Lotano Requiem Habano is one of the more exotic blends from A.J., showcasing Nicaraguan and Honduran leaves throughout the binder/filler and being topped with a zesty Brazilian Habano wrapper. The ingredients tie together with perfection, offering a medium-full intensity and nicely balanced flavors of toasted oak, medium-roast coffee, plenty of pepper, and sugar-coated nuts on the finish.
