Bandolero Series A
The Bandolero line from Selected Tobacco is known to be the most approachable and affordable offering within a suite of three connoisseur-favorite lines: Atabey, Byron, and Bandolero.
The cigars get their name from a peculiar backstory, dating back to a hundred-year span where the Spanish Crown prohibited cigar manufacturing throughout the American and Caribbean colonies that it oversaw. This opened up opportunities for bandoleros (as they were known) to bootleg tobacco and transport them to regions that could then complete the cigar-rolling process. Naturally, this made for a forbidden attraction, not unlike what we see with Cubans of today.
The Bandolero lineup is broken into three categories: Serie A (Aventureros), Serie C (Clandestinos), and Serie T (Traficantes). With this, the Bandolero Serie A, the cigar makes use of a dark and oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Selected Tobacco is known to keep the blend close to the vest, and the Aventureros is no different, not disclosing the binder/filler recipe. This version of the blend is fuller-bodied than its siblings, offering hearty notes of charred oak, leather, espresso, and dark spice.
