Crowned Heads Blood Medicine
The unique Blood Medicine project from Crowned Heads has seen its fair share of changeups since the cigar's 2015 debut, being revived in 2022 as an event exclusive before making its way to a larger audience in 2024.
If the name sounds like it comes straight out of a snake oil salesman's repertoire circa the 1800s, you're not far off... According to Crowned Heads, there is a building in downtown Nashville that was built in 1872 as a three-story pharmacy. It was converted into a hotel in 1892 before being re-opened as Merchants Restaurant during the modern era. Aside from ghost stories and rumors of the hotel doubling as a brothel and a casino, there's a peculiar artifact that remains to this day: a large advertisement for 'Blood Medicine' that was painted on one of the brick walls (and is prominently featured to this day).
As for the Blood Medicine Limited Edition 2024 cigar, it is now rolled out of Eradio Pichardo’s TacaNicsa factory in Nicaragua, making use of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, an an Ecuadorian Connecticut binder, and all-Nicaraguan fillers. The cigars have been rolled in a single 6" x 52 toro format, being limited to 1,500 boxes of 12 for 2024. This is a medium-plus-bodied smoking experience, showing off zesty components of cabinet spice, fresh-baked bread, cedar, and saltine crackers.
