Crowned Heads Mil Dias Maduro
As one of the most highly respected names in the realm of craft-style premium cigars, Crowned Heads has consistently remained a go-to choice for cigar hobbyists since debuting in 2011. Since then, the company has unleashed hit after hit, with the most recent being the Mil Días cigar—a complex smoking experience known for its diverse blend and Cuban-esque profile.
Four years after hitting humidor shelves, the Mil Días is now joined by a proper maduro counterpart, with Crowned Heads debuting the Mil Días Maduro. As with the original, the cigars are overseen by Eradio Pichardo and his burgeoning TacaNicsa factory, located in Estelí, Nicaragua. However, while many such releases are content in simply slapping a dark wrapper on a pre-existing blend, Crowned Heads took a different route. Indeed, the fan-favorite Mil Días recipe was entirely reimagined in creating a maduro experience to do the line justice. This includes a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, an Ecuadorian Habano binder, and fillers from the Condega, Jalapa, and Ometepe regions of Nicaragua.
A new experience through and through, the Mil Días Maduro cigar offers a dark yet complex smoking experience worthy of the Mil Días name. The cigar is fuller in body than its predecessor (around medium-plus), bringing out dark spices through the retrohale, as well as earth, molasses, and heaps of dark chocolate through the finish.
