Crowned Heads Yellow Rose
After turning heads in 2014 with Crowned Heads' first regional-exclusive cigar—Tennessee Waltz—the company kept the train a'moving, adding the Yellow Rose for Texas in 2015. Typically, each of these limited cigars are only offered by retailers in the given region, though there are special occasions (such as this) where these fan-favorites make their way to the national audience.
The Crowned Heads Yellow Rose is named for “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” which is a folk song dating back to at least the 1850s, being popular among Confederate soldiers in the Texas Brigade. The cigar also plays off the name with its simplistic foot-ribbon bands, which use yellow fabric on the Yellow Rose cigar. In terms of blend, the cigars are a close variant of other regional releases, showcasing a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and all-Nicaraguan binder/filler.
The cigar's Broadleaf wrapper is considered its signature ingredient, and is one of the main reasons for its limited availability, as Broadleaf has become one of the most rare and sought-after wrappers of the modern era. Rolled in a single 6¼" x 54 box-pressed torpedo format, the Yellow Rose brings a gritty and concentrated smoke onto the palate, offering a medium-full intensity and maduro-centric flavors of earth, bittersweet espresso, rugged leather, and a nice anise-chocolate crossover.
