Davidoff Maduro
After sitting on the sidelines for close to a decade, the Davidoff Maduro cigar has returned to humidors for the first time, offering a tweaked version of the original recipe in order to adapt to the ever-evolving palate of the discerning cigar hobbyist.
Among the darkest-wrapped blends from the Swiss-based company, the Davidoff Maduro first debuted in 2008, being rolled until 2016. This version used a Nicaraguan wrapper and a Dominican binder, which has now been replaced with an Ecuadorian wrapper and a Mexican binder. The updated wrapper was harvested from corte no. 7, which is the highest grade of tobacco used on Davidoff cigars. Due to its thicker texture, the leaves required twice the fermentation time (16 months) as usual, bringing out a sweet character to compliment the dark appearance. Finally, the leaves were aged for an additional two years before being rolled over the Mexican binder and all-Dominican filler recipe.
This results in a sweet, flavor-forward smoking profile, kicking off with notes of chocolate and toasted oak before opening up to include earth, roasted nuts, and a unique dark honey component. The Davidoff Maduro cigar is limited, being rolled in small batches, making for a special treat for the flavor-craved enthusiast.
