Drew Estate Liga Privada T52
Not long after Drew Estate shook up the entire premium cigar industry with the release of the ultra-premium Liga Privada No. 9 cigar, the company doubled down with the yin to the Liga 9's yang: the Drew Estate Liga Privada T52.
Like the Liga 9 before it, the T52 centered around a solid core recipe (stemming from three countries, in T52's case) in conjunction with a fine-tuned wrapper from the famed Connecticut River Valley of the United States. It is this unique wrapper that gives the T52 its name, with the codename "52" representing the hybrid Habano seed grown on a dedicated plot of land in the Connecticut River Valley. Unique to the T52 cigar, these plants are crop-cut and cured (a technique typically used on Broadleaf, such as the Liga No. 9), hanging the entire plant from its base during the curing process to allow the leaves added nutrients from the stalk.
This special wrapper then undergoes years of fermentation, as the leaf is especially thick and oily, demanding special attention to fully mature. Finally, the Connecticut wrapper is met with a hearty Brazilian Mata Fina binder and fillers of Nicaragua and Honduras. The end result is nothing short of spectacular, offering a modern twist on the classic Habano unlike anything you'll find in humidors today. The Drew Estate Liga Privada T52 is full in flavor and thick in texture, spewing with an insane amount of smoke on every puff and unleashing hearty flavors of white oak, zesty pepper, rich leather, dark chocolate, and a nice sweetness of stone fruit candy through the finish.
