Ferio Tego 2022
It's no question that Ferio Tego was the most anticipated company entering the premium cigar scene in 2021. This was largely due to founders Michael Herklots and Brendon Scott, both former employees of the now-defunct NYC staple, Nat Sherman. But Ferio Tego not only provided an outlet for the Nat Sherman lines that cigar hobbyists grew to love, but also introduced the eponymously titled Ferio Tego cigars: Ferio Tego Generoso and Ferio Tego Elegancia. Being the headlining brand for Ferio Tego, the cigars took a unique path, with two vastly different smoking profiles being crafted by entirely different factories—one in the DR and one in Nicaragua. This approach stemmed from Herklots' background as a sommelier, being described as Ferio Tego's own "house style." Ferio Tego launched in 2021 with very limited availability, though the cigars have now returned for their 2022 run. Similar to the subtle differences between a winery's small-batch runs, each Ferio Tego release aims to offer a consistent, familiar feel, while allowing for creativity and uniqueness between releases. "Both blends stand on their own much the way a winery offers a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon together," noted Michael Herklots.
Ferio Tego Generoso
The Ferio Tego Generoso 2022 cigar is rolled in Nicaragua at the famed Plasencia Cigars factory. This blend is wrapped in a Honduran shade-grown leaf, which surrounds all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers. The blend is balanced and hits all regions of the palate, while not coming across as aggressive in the slightest.
Ferio Tego Elegancia
The Ferio Tego Elegancia 2022 cigar is crafted by Quesada Cigars in the Dominican Republic. Donning a bronze-hued Ecuadorian wrapper, the blend includes a Dominican binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. This cigar is much heartier than expected, offering a weighty smoking texture and a clean sensation across the palate.
