When the modern-day rendition of the La Palina cigar brand returned to the cigar scene in 2009—after an 83-year hiatus—the company's first line was known as the Family Series. These cigars were crafted in the Bahamas as an ultra-premium offering, with four unique sizes named after members of La Palina owner Bill Paley's family (Pasha, Babe, Alison, Little Bill). Sadly, the series came to a close roughly four years later. But in 2015, craft cigar enthusiasts were pleasantly surprised, as La Palina brought the Family Series back, this time partnering with the vaunted El Titan de Bronze factory in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood. La Palina had previously partnered with the boutique factory to create the fan-favorite Goldie cigars, proving to be the perfect fit to revive the ultra-premium nature of the Family Series. To distinguish the cigars from the originals, the modern rendition is dubbed La Palina Family Series Miami (paying homage to the location where the cigars are crafted). The first cigar in the Family Series Miami collection is the Pasha (named for La Palina owner Bill Paley's father, William S. Paley)—a 7' x 50 Churchill with an extended-filler (shaggy) foot. Unlike the original Family Series, which offered multiple blends throughout, the Family Series Miami showcases the same overall blend across the entire collection. This includes a Nicaraguan filler blend, harvested from the Jalapa and Estelí regions; the binder is Ecuadorian Habano and the wrapper is a gorgeous Ecuadorian Corojo '99 leaf.
