La Sirena Mexican Mermaid
An early player in the boutique cigars space, La Sirena Cigars has evolved to meet the needs of the modern cigar enthusiast since their 2009 debut. The company is owned by Danny Ditkowich, being named for his daughter Arielle, who is the face of the mermaid-themed brand (with La Sirena translating to mean The Mermaid).
The company has worked with many of the most reputable cigar factories throughout Nicaragua, Honduras, the DR, and even Mexico; with the La Sirena Mexican Mermaid cigar, they add yet another manufacturer to the list: Tabacalera La Isla. This boutique upstart is headed up by Hostos Fernandez Quesada, branching off from Quesada Cigars to showcase his own unique talents.
La Sirena Mexican Mermaid plays on the brand's fan-favorite La Sirena Aniversario Especial cigar of 2019, boasting high levels of Mexican San Andrés tobaccos throughout the blend. This begins with a dark San Andrés Maduro wrapper, extending to a San Andrés binder and fillers of Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The end result is as gritty, smoky, and creamy as expected, offering a medium-full body and dark flavors that sink into the palate, including highlights of smoked hickory, earth, mocha, and table cream.
