The "Leaf by" series began as a string of collaborations between "Island" Jim Robinson and a host of rising-talent cigar manufacturers throughout the premium cigar scene. Unquestionably, the most popular project has been the Leaf by Oscar (in collaboration with Oscar Valladares), which is known for its unusual packaging, placing the rolled cigars in an additional tobacco leaf (instead of cellophane) to provide a more natural protective layer. Now, Leaf by Oscar celebrates the brand's milestone 10th anniversary with the Leaf by Oscar 10th Anniversary Criollo cigar. Playing to Oscar Valladares' strength of Honduran tobacco, the blend is rolled entirely from leaves harvested from Honduras. The cigar's signature ingredient is a Honduran-grown Criollo wrapper, which was grown on the La Florida farm in the country's Jamastran Valley. Additionally, the cigars feature unique bands that are made from plantain leaves and processed by local Honduran artisans into usable paper. The Leaf by Oscar 10th Anniversary Criollo is a robust experience, hitting the palate with a dense smoking texture and lingering complexity. In terms of profile, the cigar is classic and punchy, offering notes of mineral-rich earth, black pepper, leather, and touches of cinnamon.
