The Luciano Maria Lucia cigar pays homage to Luciano's mother—Maria Lucia—who passed away when he was only 12 years old. Battling with the grief throughout his life, it was only now that he was able to understand her complicated life's story and craft a special experience in her memory. Not only this, but the cigar takes on somewhat of an otherworldly inspiration, as the box/band design was taken from a sketch made by Luciano's daughter. According to Meirelles, she sketched the portrait after having dreamt of a woman she did not know. When Luciano saw the drawing, it was unmistakable for his mother, and is now featured on the Maria Lucia cigar. Such a special cigar requires special tobacco, and the Maria Lucia cigar does not disappoint. The blend begins with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, being joined by a double binder of Ecuadorian Sumatra and a unique Ecuadorian HBN 92 leaf. These outer layers surround a diverse filler, harvested from the DR, Nicaragua, and Peru. It goes without saying that this is a special smoking experience, delivering a nearly full body and atypical complexities that will have you pausing with contemplation between each puff—it's that good!
