Rocky Patel Dark Star
No, it's not the title of the next Star Wars movie... unless Rocky Patel turns out to be some sort of undercover Jedi (which actually sounds half-plausible). We're talking about the Dark Star cigar from Rocky Patel, a Cubanesque blend that features an unusual tobacco within its filler.
The RP Dark Star cigar begins with the transplanting of a Paraguayan seed, which was grown in Honduras, home of many Rocky Patel cigars. Being sweet and nutty, this leaf is said to resemble tobacco out of Costa Rica, having an almond butter-like quality to it. Used in conjunction with Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, Dark Star is bound in a Mexican leaf and finalized with a Honduran Corojo wrapper. All told, this makes for a mild to medium intensity that is on par with Cuba's Habanos (yes, apparently Paraguay + Honduras = Costa Rica / Cuba).
The Rocky Patel Dark Star cigar debuts in a range of four sizes, being rolled by the Plasencia family and their El Paraiso factory in Honduras. Cigar hobbyists can expect a flavor-driven smoking experience, hitting soft and semi-sweet notes of cedar, florals, almond butter, and dried fruit.
