Rocky Patel The 1865 Project
Despite the Emancipation Proclamation being issued by President Lincoln in 1863, it wasn't until June 19, 1865 that General Gordon Granger delivered the General Order No. 3 to the people of Texas, effectively finalizing the end of slavery in the US. This occasion was first celebrated by local churches only one year later, and has since become recognized as the federal holiday Juneteenth.
Rocky Patel, owner and founder of Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, is personally involved with The Juneteenth Foundation, and he has crafted the Rocky Patel The 1865 Project to aid in the charity's efforts. Rolled at the company's boutique Tabacalera Villa Cuba factory in Estelí, the cigars make use of a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a double binder from Honduras and Nicaragua, and all-Nicaraguan fillers. The cigars showcase a medium-full intensity, offering rich and long-lasting flavors of fiery earth, black pepper, toasted oak, and chocolate sweetness through the finish.
